The Viroqua Community Theatre is excited to announce its summer production as "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart. Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Steven Laurdan
A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum is a musical comedy set in Ancient Rome, where slaves were fashionable, a woman is regarded as an object to be conquered, and comedy is in abundance. This faux-Roman tale is full of dreamy-eyed young lovers and crafty slaves, with such plot complications as a houseful of courtesans, magic potions, mistaken identities, unexpected returns and so on.
